Kind of misleading... Turtle Rock didn't really develop CS:Source, they only made some Source conversions of the original maps (and de_tide, I guess).
So, I don't really find much reason to believe this will be good until we see more.
Good news. An update will be released to fix the problem for 1280x1024 screens soon. They are going to revert it back to the letterbox 720p.

Yeah, I didn't think there was anything wrong to begin with. I liked playing in letterbox widescreen at 720p on my 1280x1024 LCD. Now I'm stuck with 480p, and it looks quite bad.
Funny thing is if you go to the Epic Games forum Mark Rein was initially brushing off the new complaints saying that he had played at 1280x1024 and believed it looked great.

It still was the first UE3 game to come out. It came out on PC one day before Gears of War did on the 360.
